The opportunity includes:
Dedicated working studio space within The Hive
Exhibition space for your work in the gallery
Participation in The Hive's curated Maine artist collective
Exposure to the visitors and collectors who come to Maine Art Hill
The opportunity to sell your work through the gallery
Opportunities to participate in gallery events, demonstrations, and programming
A creative, professional environment alongside other Maine artists
What we're looking for:
The selected artist would commit to working in the studio 1–2 consistent days per week during gallery hours. While working in the studio, you would also be available to assist with gallery sales and visitor questions downstairs as needed.
We're particularly interested in an artist who:
Lives locally or within a reasonable distance of Kennebunk
Has an established or emerging body of original work
Enjoys connecting with people and talking about their creative process
Is comfortable working in a space that is visible and audible to gallery visitors, while maintaining a private studio upstairs
Wants to be an active part of a collaborative creative space
This is intended to be a working studio, not simply a storage or private studio rental. The goal is to create a sense that something is always happening at The Hive: art being made upstairs, art being exhibited downstairs, and visitors getting a small glimpse behind the scenes.
The Hive is located at Maine Art Hill, a long-established art destination in Kennebunk with a strong seasonal visitor base and a loyal collector community.
Interested? We'd love to see your work and hear a little about your practice. Please send a short introduction, a link to your website or Instagram, and a few examples of your work to abby@fullcircleartconsulting.com
Working Artist Opportunity
The Hive Gallery, a curated Maine art collective at Maine Art Hill in Kennebunk, is looking for a local Maine artist to join our creative community as a working studio artist.
We have a unique opportunity for an artist to maintain a dedicated working studio on the second floor of The Hive, directly above our gallery space featuring a curated selection of Maine artists.
The studio is intentionally part of the gallery experience. While the upstairs studio is not open to the public, it overlooks the gallery through an open spiral staircase, allowing visitors to catch glimpses of the artist at work from below and hear the creative activity happening upstairs. It's a subtle but memorable way to bring the process of making art into the gallery experience.
